How many pubs can boast Roman remains as part of their attraction? Well the Roman Bath Inn takes its name from the remains of Roman baths which were discovered beneath the pub in the 1970s. The pub was formerly known as the Mail Coach Inn until the remains, which consisted mainly of the Caldarium or hot room, were discovered. Visitors to the Roman Bath can see the stone blocks which supported the floor and allowed the hot air to circulate underneath.
