The Fat Cat is a 150-year-old pub, which in 1981 became the city’s first real ale free house. This olde-worlde pub is a Kelham Island brewery tap, situated a short walk from the city centre, with separate smoking and non-smoking rooms. Voted one of the top five urban pubs in Britain in The Times, 1999. No music, no fruit machines. Award-winning home cooked food is served at lunchtimes and always includes vegetarian and vegan dishes. Beer garden, open fires, children & animal friendly. Privately owned and fiercely independent! Morning Advertiser Cask Ale Pub of the Year 2004.
