Ty Coch means ‘Red House’ in Welsh and it is easy to see how this striking seaside inn got its name. Apparently the red bricks were brought back as ballast by ships returning from trade with the Netherlands. In the nineteenth century the pub was busy with local ship builders. Today tourists and whelk fishermen alike enjoy a pint in ‘the biggest lounge bar in Wales’ – the whole beach. The pub is proud of its maritime heritage and the walls are crammed with nautical charts and memorabilia.
