There has been a pub on the site of the Cittie of Yorke as far back as 1430, although the current Grade 2 listed building dates from around the 1920s. The pub used to have the longest bar in Britain until part of the bar was changed into a separate room, and the stunning Tudor styled interior makes it one of the most interesting places to drink in the area. There are also two smaller bars within the pub. The bar was also reputedly patronised by Dickens and Samuel Johnson among others.
